1978 MG Midget in Fireglow Red. 1497cc.

With 12 months MOT and I will put 6 months Tax on it for her new owner. Currently on SORN.

This is a solid very good example of the 1500 Midget. I have tried to keep it as original as possible to the day it was made, with a few exceptions, like adding a Radio/CD player and speakers.

The Engine sounds and runs like a dream. It never overheats, even if sitting idling for a long time in traffic jams. Oil pressure is excellent, with no leaks. The twin carburetas were overhauled and cleaned last year, along with a full service, which while it was in the garage had a new clutch, Brake discs, callipers and pads. Not the cheap variety either.

Like most MG owners I have looked after this car carefully, and spared no expense in keeping her on the road. I have receipts for all the work carried out, including recently adding new heat shields, engine mountings, suspension straps.

As you can see from the pictures this little MG looks fantastic and is a real head turner. On top of that it’s a joy to drive, once you get use to having no ABS, power steering and other things you would expect from older cars.

The car comes with full and half tonneau, spare steering wheel, new brake shoes for the rear, Midget Haynes manual, spare wheel and jack.

With all old cars, unless you have spent a fortune getting into pristine condition, they have there faults. This car is no exception and the asking price reflects this. I have seen many an MG priced similarly, or more than this one, that I can honestly say aren’t a patch on this little beauty. But I guess you will need to see her to appreciate that fully.

I wouldn’t want anyone to buy one of my cars, only to be disappointed or find faults that I havent told them about.

MOT advisorys were very slight play on nearside wheel baring, although to be honest I’m surprised he even mentioned it, because it is literally, very slight.

Corrosion to the leading edge of front passenger floor plan. Again very minor. It’s not something that will need attention for quite some time yet, and even so, will require a small bit of welding when it does.

Hood rear window panel as a slight tear, and rear side panel as come away from the hood. At best, a littlebit of glue will fix this, at worst a new hood off Ebay, which will cost you about
100, and are straight forward to fit.

So there you go, I have done what a lot of sellers don’t do and list the faults that I know about. All are very minor.

With this in mind, you will be getting a solid, reliable, top MG Midget and in very good overall condition. She’s not perfect, but If you want a perfect one, you can expect to pay 2 or 3 times what I’m asking for.

The vehicle is located near to Somerton in Somerset. Viewings are welcome any time, feel free to bring along a mechanic and give her a good look over. I have no problems with that because I know what a fantastic car this is.
